Interesting facts on Claus von Stauffenberg and the Nazi- Movement-

-          The Stauffenbergs were one of  the oldest aristocratic Roman Catholic families in Germany.

-          As a teenager, Claus was a member of the Neupfadfinder, a German Scout association.

-          His parents started to educate him in literature when he was five years old.

-          He did not fight for banning the racial thinking of the Nazis- he fought to stop the killing of other races.

-          On May 8th, he received the German Cross in gold.

-          After his death, his children had to change their last names, because the name was now considered taboo.

-          There have been 8 movies about him and his life, most recently “Valkyrie” with Tom Cruise.

-          Right before his execution, Stauffenberg spoke his last words: “Long live our holy Germany”.

-          The assassination was obstructed by colonel Heinz Brandt by moving the suitcase the bombs were in behind a desk, which partly blocked the detonation.
